Anthea Williams                      Bio / Statement

I live and work in Latrobe Valley, a contrasting landscape of bucolic farmland industrial coal mine structures, and surfaces blackened by dust. This landscape resonates with concepts explored in my work. Recurrent themes include fragility, connection and disconnection. Specifically, our disengagement with each other and our environment.

My background in sculpture has broadened to include a multi- disciplinary practice including performance, digital photography, and collage. This approach allows greater potential to reach a wider audience and relates directly to the importance of connection.

My career highlights include numerous group and solo exhibitions in Victoria nationally and internationally in addition
to public art commissions collections and residencies.
